Summer can be a really fun time for kids…but imagine having an opportunity to have a good time while learning leadership and collaboration skills. That’s what happened this summer for 15 Latino students ages 11-14 from the Denver community and surrounding districts at the Museo de las Americas' 2018 Los Jovenes Leadership Lab.
Makey Makey, Soundplant, CU Field Trip...It was just the start of the learning, creativity and fun at the Leadership Lab sponsored by a grant from the Teletech Community Foundation selected by TTEC employee Rodrigo Monroy, Vice President, Assistant General Counsel. “This year, thanks to the funding provided by the Teletech Community Foundation, we were able to expand the Leadership Lab from one week to two weeks which allowed our students more time to research and discuss social issues, use their tablets and Makey Makey kits, and to fully engage their imagination and creativity to create their art projects,” said Luisa Zamora, the teacher of the Leadership Lab. The extra week also gave the students an opportunity for a field trip to the CU Denver Engineering Department where they were encouraged to pursue STEM subjects in school. Luisa continued, "By having access to technology and learning within the context of art and culture, students had the opportunity to jumpstart their creativity, develop leadership skills, and increase their awareness of societal issues."

100% of students were Latino and attend Title I schools
100% of students had little to no prior experience with circuitry
95% of students completed and presented their projects for family and friends.
Congratulations to the Museo de las Americas for creating an amazing experience for their students!
